Students who are not on an approved Leave of Absence and who have not been registered in their program of study for two consecutive semesters of required enrollment are required to apply for readmission in order to continue their studies. Students should seek readmission through their respective graduate program office.

If readmitted, the student is subject to the original statute of limitations for completion of the program but is obliged to follow policies and academic regulations and meet degree requirements in effect at the time of readmission. Prior to being readmitted, any outstanding financial obligations to the university must be met, and any judicial issues must be resolved. Students may not be readmitted to a program of study that is no longer active.

Prior completed coursework will not automatically count toward the new program requirements, and the Credit Validation Policy applies to all prior coursework-both Â鶹ֱ²¥ credit as well as any transfer credit. Students may be expected to repeat courses or take additional coursework in order to meet current program requirements.

Under exceptional circumstances, a student whose original statute of limitations has expired, did not exist, or otherwise prohibits the ability to complete the program may file a written appeal for readmission to the relevant or designated school committee or office. If readmitted, a plan for completion of the program must be determined and documented at the time of readmission with an explicit expected graduation date to which the student must adhere.

Students should consult the Catalog of Graduate and Professional Programs for school-specific readmission policies.

Students whose absences are due to an approved Leave of Absence are not required to apply for readmission in order to return to the University if the student was in good standing when the leave was granted. See the Leave of Absence policy for details. Military service women and men or their spouses who are called to active duty are not required to reapply for admission in order to return to the University.
