Endowed Scholarships

Thanks to the generous funding of these scholarships by alums, friends of Duquesne and other foundations, there are several scholarships available to students in the College of Osteopathic Medicine. Scholarships range from $2,000 up to $40,000. 

Donor funded scholarships are particularly special, as through the gift of philanthropy, the opportunity to positively affect one’s educational journey is made possible.  Preparing the next generation of physician leaders is thematic for all those who so generously support scholarships for Â鶹ֱ²¥â€™s College of Osteopathic Medicine as it takes a unique individual to answer the call to become a physician.

Endowed Scholarships for the College of Osteopathic Medicine

The Addison Gibson Foundation is available for students from Western Pennsylvania who demonstrate financial need. The scholarship renews annually until graduation as long as the recipient maintains good academic standing (3.0 GPA).

The Knapp Caruso Endowed Scholarship in the College of Medicine is available for students who demonstrate financial need. The scholarship renews annually until graduation as long as the recipient maintains good academic standing.

The Marc and Janis Hoffman Scholarship renews annually until graduation as long as the recipient maintains good academic standing
The William J. and Helen A. Lyons Endowed Student Resource Fund is available for students from a low socio-economic community who demonstrate financial need and high academic merit. The scholarship is used to assist students with individual student equipment.

The James and Anita McGuirk Endowed Empowerment Scholarship is available for students who demonstrate financial need from an underrepresented background. The scholarship renews annually until graduation as long as the recipient maintains good academic standing.

The MSA Inc. Empowerment Scholarship is available for students who demonstrate financial need with a deep commitment to the DUQCOM mission. The scholarship renews annually until graduation as long as the recipient maintains good academic standing.

The PNC Foundation Scholarship is designed to support students whose family incomes are at or below 80% of the area's median income level, specifically utilizing the Pittsburgh census tract median household income of $79,280. Therefore, students with family incomes of $63,424 or less are eligible to apply.

Eligibility Criteria: To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Residency: Applicants must be admitted students from Western Pennsylvania.

Income Requirement: Family income must be at or below 80% of the Pittsburgh census tract median household income, which is $63,424 or less.

Academic Achievement: Applicants must demonstrate a strong academic record and commitment to their educational pursuits.

Community Involvement: Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated active participation in community service or extracurricular activities.

The Ryan Memorial Foundation Endowed Scholarship is available for students who demonstrate financial need from a lower socio-economic community who demonstrated high academic merit. The scholarship renews annually until graduation as long as the recipient maintains good academic standing.

The John A. Staley, IV, and Patricia Staley Endowed Scholarship for Osteopathic Medicine is available for students from a low socio-economic community who demonstrate financial need, demonstrates high academic merit, and exhibits a commitment to humanitarian and community service, as well as the DUQCOM mission. The scholarship renews annually until graduation as long as the recipient maintains good academic standing
The Nancy King Wandrisco and Thomas A. Wandrisco Endowed Scholarship is available for students who demonstrate financial need. The scholarship is awarded one time and is not renewable.
The Western Allegheny Physicians’ Fund is available for core training for an osteopathic medical student from Western Pennsylvania. The scholarship is awarded one time and is not renewable.
The Robert L. Wintermyer Endowed Scholarship is available for students who demonstrate financial need from a lower socio-economic background and a medically underserved community.
