Application Procedures

Applicants should have earned a baccalaureate degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, engineering, pharmacy, allied health sciences, or social/behavioral or business sciences, depending on the proposed field of study. Students are admitted for the fall or spring semester of the academic year. Applications must be received in sufficient time to permit processing and evaluation before enrollment for the preferred semester, dates are posted on the university web site. The application process will be opened on July 1st for the coming academic year. Applications which are received prior to January 15th, will be given primary consideration for the fall semester applications will be closed on March 2nd for the academic year. Under special circumstances applications will be considered for the spring semester. 

Applications require the following information

  • All undergraduate and graduate college or university official transcripts. For institutions outside of the US, a transcript evaluation by a third party (i.e., WES) is required.
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation sent by your listed references
  • (International Students only - must be current within one year) Official TOEFL - Minimum score 65, IELTS Score - Minimum score 5.5, or Duolingo 90 - (Institution code - 2196)
  • Affidavit of Support (REQUIRED AT TIME OF ACCEPTANCE): International students must submit documents certifying availability of adequate financial resources. These documents, which are official verification of available funds, must be an Official Bank Statement with the bank's official signature and seal.
  • Agency-sponsored students may submit an Official Copy of Sponsoring Agency Guarantee
  • Mandatory Information Request from international students

Students that wish to submit GRE scores may do so although the test is optional.

All applicants whose native language or principle language of instruction is not English are required to submit their TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores to the Graduate School Office. International students who are applying for a teaching assistantship will be required to take the Test of Spoken English (TSE ) during the mandated Science Orientation prior to the start of the semester.
