Internationally recognized as a center for phenomenological psychology, studying psychology at Â鶹ֱ²¥ engages you in the rigorous articulation of psychology as a human science. Our faculty will inspire you to explore the depth and subtlety of human experience.
At Duquesne, you will gain broad exposure to both human and natural science psychology; our focus is firmly rooted in traditions that honor what is unique to human experience. Our coursework and applied training foster critical thinking, self-reflection, ethical practice and creative attention to the nature of psychological life. Many find that our human science orientation is especially helpful to students who plan to pursue careers or graduate studies in disciplines that focus on serving others.
What does it mean to study psychology as a human science?
Studying psychology through a qualitative, human science lens allows students to address questions of meaning, values, experience, history, culture and power. This practice is well suited for studying love, dreams, spirituality, interpersonal relationships, gender roles, race issues and more.
