Biography
Dr. Ergie Pepito Inocian joined Â鶹ֱ²¥ School of Nursing as a Clinical Assistant Professor in 2020. He earned his BSN and Doctorate in Education from Southwestern University-Philippines in 2007 and 2015, respectively, and his Master of Science in Nursing in 2009 from Cebu Normal University, a recognized Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the Commission on Higher Education in the Philippines.
He formerly worked at King Khalid University Hospital, King Saud University Medical City in Saudi Arabia as a nurse educator and head nurse in Perioperative Units, and as a manager in Nursing Research. He was also an adjunct faculty in the College of Nursing at the same institution teaching Adult Health and Health Assessment. Dr. Inocian worked part time in the online and distance learning programs at Malaysian Allied Health Sciences Academy (MAHSA) University for several cohort groups of Associate Degree RN students pursuing a BSN. In the Philippines, he was a full-time clinical instructor in the undergraduate BSN program at Southwestern University.
His master's thesis investigated the dependency needs in the Activities of Daily Living (ADL) performance among older people and its association to cognitive impairment. In his doctoral research study in education, he focused on the clinical learning environment and supervision of nursing students during placement in the acute care settingsDr. Inocian is a lifestyle coach for Prevent T2, a CDC-recognized program at Duquesne University, which is an interdisciplinary collaboration with the School of Pharmacy and School of Nursing to assist with the implementation of the National Diabetes Prevention Program for two marginalized communities in Pittsburgh.
Dr. Inocian is a Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) issued by the Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI), a Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) issued by the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB) and is a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Ireland and USA.

Research Interests or Expertise
Continuing the overarching theme of his early research studies, Dr. Inocian's interest is two-fold: Nursing Education and Clinical Practice. He likes to conduct nursing education studies that would support nursing students' theoretical learning and ultimately enhance their clinical competence. In addition, he wants to explore evidence-based nursing interventions that help improve the quality of life and health outcomes among patients.
