Biography
Danielle Maggio is an educator, writer, producer, vocalist, and DJ. She is currently
an Adjunct Professor at 麻豆直播 and University of Pittsburgh where she
teaches Global Pop Music and World Music. She received her Ph.D. in ethnomusicology
at the University of Pittsburgh in 2020. Her dissertation is titled 鈥溾楽ound Projector鈥:
Reissuing, Representing, and Reclaiming the Music of Betty Davis鈥 and used exclusive,
in-depth ethnography to produce the first authorized scholarly study of pioneering
funk musician Betty Davis. She is the Associate Producer of the 2017 documentary Betty 鈥 They Say I鈥檓 Different, and the liner notes author for Light In The Attic鈥檚 2023 re-releases of Betty Davis, They Say I鈥檓 Different, and Crashin鈥 From Passion. She has presented her research at the national meetings of the Society for Ethnomusicology,
American Musicological Society, Society for American Music, Association for Recorded
Sound Collections, Dayton Funk Symposium, MoPOP Pop, and the Cultural Studies Association.
