Biography

Dr. O'Neil is a Professor of Pharmacy Practice  at Â鶹ֱ²¥. She currently serves as Director of Curriculum Development.  From 2002 until 2010 she served as Director of the Center for Pharmacy Care, a health education, screening and wellness program.  Dr. O-Neil completed her B.S. in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees at Â鶹ֱ²¥ and completed a hospital pharmacy residency at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh.  Since 1988, she has practiced in various settings including a Geriatric Assessment Center, Office-Based Physician Practice, and Long Term Care. She is the recipient of a Distinguished Alumnus Award, numerous School Service Awards, and the Dean's Award.

Dr. O'Neil's research includes clinical research on the impact of pharmacist's intervention (health promotion and disease prevention activities) on health outcomes, scholarship of teaching and learning, and pharmacy services evaluation in long-term care.  

She currently serves on numerous committees including the Curriculum, Scholarship, University Core Curriculum Committees, and the Interprofessional Education Collaborative. Dr. O'Neil has been an active member of ACCP and has served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Geriatric PRN, member of the ACCP Leadership Task Force, and has represented ACCP nationally as reviewer of the American Geriatric Society Pain Guidelines for Older Adults.  She routinely serves as an abstract reviewer for AACP and ACCP and as journal reviewer for Pharmacotherapy and American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education. She was also a contributor to the Geriatric Curriculum Guide, a joint effort of AACP and ASCP.
