Biography

Abigail (Abby) Delehanty, Ph.D., CCC-SLP is the Assistant Department Chair, an Assistant Professor, and the Program Director for the Language Disorders and Autism Clinic in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at Â鶹ֱ²¥. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Texas at Austin and a Ph.D. in Communication Science and Disorders from Florida State University.

Dr. Delehanty is a certified speech-language pathologist with extensive clinical experience serving toddlers, preschoolers, school-aged individuals, and adolescents with communication disorders and autism. Before returning to pursue the research doctorate, she practiced as a public school-based speech-language pathologist serving children from ages 2 ½ to 22. For the last five years of her career in the schools, she served as an SLP on a full-time, multidisciplinary autism evaluation team, conducting weekly developmental screenings in the community and connecting more than 100 children with school-based services each year. Dr. Delehanty's clinical and research interests include studying and promoting social communication and language development in children with communication delays and autism, reducing the age of identification of communication disorders and autism in young children, client- and family-centered practice, and technology-supported screening, assessment, and intervention. She teaches coursework in developmental language disorders, autism, assessment, professional issues, and ethics.
