The Ambulatory Care Certificate: Developing Sustainable Clinical Pharmacy Services
Certificate Program will give participants the knowledge and skills to successfully
lead the integration of clinical pharmacists into ambulatory care clinics and teams.
This ACPE-approved, 30-contact hour certificate program includes a series of four
self-paced modules and four synchronous live webinar sessions delivered over eight
weeks.
Program modules:
- Ambulatory care and value-based care
- Revenue generation and practice integration
- Sustainability and collaboration
- Business planning
Participants will complete activities that apply concepts from the modules to a clinic
profile, which will be discussed during the live sessions. Over the course of the
program each clinic, made up of grouped participants, will develop a business model.
The program culminates with the final business plan presentations module where each
clinic presents their business model to the CEO/CFO during the final live session.
Target Audience: Pharmacists in ambulatory clinical practice settings, residency program directors,
directors of pharmacy and quality teams, PGY1 and PGY2 residents

Program Goals
Ambulatory care pharmacists will gain a foundation in these skills and knowledge to
position themselves as an integral and enduring member of the primary care team. Program
participants will develop proficiency in discussing established value-based care models
with key stakeholders and will apply business planning concepts to the development
and implementation of a sustainable ambulatory care practice.

Knowledge of business planning and model development, informed by revenue generating
opportunities and pharmacist impact on quality indicators, is crucial to the development
of a sustainable ambulatory clinical pharmacy practice. Long term success of these
practices also require enhanced provider and patient satisfaction and ongoing demonstration
of clinical and economic value.
Michael Korczynski, Pharm.D., is currently a Medical Science Liaison with Boehringer-Ingelheim in Pittsburgh,
PA. Dr. Korczynski is a progressive and innovative pharmacy clinician and leader with
over 20 years of experience in a variety of health-system roles and settings. His
expertise includes ambulatory pharmacy care model design, outpatient chronic medication
management, team-based care and practice transformation, value-based models, utilization
management, relationship building, stakeholder engagement and influence, ambulatory
care residency training and academia.
